sometimes i wonder why certain songs seem to

capture us. since ive started singing seriously ive pretty much allowed myself to be swept away in a sea of opera and art song, hitting waves of symphonies, string quartets, and ballets along the way.

i pretty much ignored all of pop music, or anything played on mainstream radio, thinking of it as a lesser form of art. and im not saying ive separated from those habits or those opinions. but...everyonceinawhile i will hear a song on the radio that...if im not careful...ill find my toe tapping, or my heart swelling, or myself humming it later.

and while i dont believe that three doors down could ever be comparable to mozart or strauss (richard, that is. johann, yeah maybe), but here without you really is...special in its own way.

even with the terribly placed accent on the word "and" in the middle of the chorus.

so maybe all hope isnt lost in the popmusik industrie.
